Devi Corporaal was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in a musical family. Her parents were both jazz musicians and from a young age, she was exposed to the sounds of jazz and lofi music. As a child, she would often sing along to her parents’ records and it wasn’t long before she started to develop a passion for music.
At the age of 16, Devi started to play the piano and quickly became interested in creating her own music. She was drawn to the lo-fi hip hop and jazz genres because of their relaxed and nostalgic feel. She was especially inspired by the works of J Dilla, Madlib, and Nujabes.
Devi started performing at local jazz clubs and cafes and soon gained a following. She quickly became known for her unique style and her ability to create a relaxing and chill atmosphere with her music. In 2016, she was offered her first residency at a popular Amsterdam bar, where she would play every Saturday night. This residency allowed her to reach a wider audience and solidified her reputation as a talented musician.
In 2018, Devi started to make a name for herself as a DJ. She would play at local clubs, festivals and events, and quickly gained a reputation for her ability to mix lofi hip hop and jazz with other genres. Her sets are known for their smooth transitions and her ability to keep the crowd engaged and relaxed at the same time.
In 2022, Devi released her first album, “Taint of the Curtain”, which was a huge success. The album was well received by fans and critics alike, and was praised for its smooth and nostalgic sound. She followed up the success of her first album with a series of live performances and DJ sets, which only further solidified her reputation as a talented and versatile musician.
